TylerUnion Earth Day Volunteers

We would like to recognize the wonderful Tyler Union volunteers that helped with the annual Earth Day activities for 950 fourth graders from various schools across Calhoun County, Alabama.  Larry Bowers, Larry Nichols and Julie Campbell were all expert kayaking instructors who added a good dose of fun to each session.  Mark Vess, Chris McBee and Teresa Nguyen trained the children on how to throw a lifeline to drowning role players.  Greg Reyes and Hollie Mulkey Bonds did a fabulous job of face painting.   Amanda Davis and Sara Tongsuvone coordinated the nutrition station to teach the students where their food comes from and how valuable clean soil and water is to our planet for growing
food.

As always, Jerome McQueen gave a wonderful presentation on how our water is delivered through ductile iron pipes and fittings. He explained the scrap recycling, melting and molding processes and answered all of the curve-ball questions thrown his way by the fourth graders.

Thanks to everyone at Tyler Union for their support and participation in this year’s Earth Day celebration.
